lavender essential oil

Lavender is one of the most widely used essential oils because of its many beneficial and healing properties. It is known to sooth, relax and calm both body and mind. Lavender is sometimes used as an antidepressant and may enhance sleep. The ancient Romans bathed in lavender oil and used it to clean wounds. Its sweet aroma and slightly balsamic overtones combine well with other essential oils.

Uses: In small amounts, lavender can be applied undiluted. It can be added to bath water, to scent pillows and in drawer sachets. Diluted, lavender may be used to massage babies or added to shampoo. A drop or two of lavender added to water in an oil burner makes a wonderfully relaxing room fragrance.

Cautionary Note: Avoid using lavender if you have low blood pressure.
